Reviews comparison: top ISO 42001 audit certification bodies

Every public review of the eight bodies, 347 in all, read and counted. Almost none are about an ISO 42001 audit, and the biggest star ratings are not about audits at all.

Auditors ranked by client reviews

Source is where the reviews live. Rating is weighted by relevance, volume is the weighted count, recency follows the newest audit review.

What to know

  1. One review in 347 mentions an ISO 42001 audit: a five-star for Tempo in July 2026 [1]. One more names the standard, a one-star on ISOQAR's ISO 42001 lead-auditor course [2]. Nobody has yet reviewed an ISO 42001 audit as such.
  2. Three of the biggest star ratings are not about audits. LRQA's 4.9 from 323 is a Dutch training-course profile with seven audit reviews [7]; BSI's 1.6 is mostly its shop and invoices [4]; Intertek's 1.8 is unanswered phone calls across the group [5].
  3. Tempo's is the only profile that is about audits: 67 of 74, all five stars, every one from the last twelve months [6]. Only LRQA has ever replied to a review, three times.
  4. NQA and TÜV UK have no reviews at all. That scores zero, and it is a finding: a buyer cannot read what does not exist.

The numbered references open the exact review each finding rests on, or the profile where the platform gives no link to a single review. The same references carry into the Reviews column of the ranking and into each body's detailed analysis.

How a review counts

The exact maths, published. Relevance is weighed first; then the three scored columns of the table; then the total. The same method scores Reviews in the ranking.

  1. 01

Relevance first, before the scored columns

Not every review on a certification body's profile is about certification, so each review is weighted by what it is about before it counts. An ISO 42001 audit: 1.0. An audit for another standard: 0.7. A training course or a general comment: 0.1, and the total weight of those can never exceed the total weight of the audit reviews. The shop, invoices and vehicle testing: 0. A body's weighted count is the sum of those weights.
  2. 02

    Rating: half the mark

The average star rating of the reviews that count, each review weighted as above, then put on a 0 to 10 scale: (average stars minus 1) times 2.5. Five stars is 10; three stars is 5; one star is 0.
  3. 03

    Volume: a quarter

The weighted count, banded rather than taken raw, so a body with a hundred reviews cannot bury a body with ten: 0 scores 0; up to 2 scores 3; up to 9 scores 5; up to 29 scores 7; up to 99 scores 8; 100 or more scores 10. Ten good audit reviews and a hundred are two bands apart, not ten times apart.
  4. 04

    Recency: a quarter

The newest audit review, by date: under three months old scores 10; under a year, 7; under two years, 4; older, 1. A body with only course reviews is capped at 4. No reviews at all scores 0.
  5. 05

The total: the score in the table

Reviews = 0.5 times rating + 0.25 times volume + 0.25 times recency, rounded to one decimal. Two worked examples. Tempo: 67 audit reviews (one of them ISO 42001) and 7 general comments, all five stars, newest this week. Weighted count 47.9, so volume 8; rating 10; recency 10. Score 0.5 times 10 + 0.25 times 8 + 0.25 times 10 = 9.5. LRQA: 7 audit reviews averaging 3.86, 190 course reviews averaging 4.91, 3 general. Audit weight 4.9; the courses and comments would weigh 19.3 but are capped at 4.9. Weighted count 9.8, so volume 7; weighted rating 4.38, so 8.4; newest audit review November 2025, so recency 7. Score 0.5 times 8.4 + 0.25 times 7 + 0.25 times 7 = 7.7.

    What we could not read

Gartner blocks automated reading, so Schellman's profile was read by hand: 33 reviews at 5.0 in the compliance and attestation market, the newest from August 2025. Trustpilot shows only English-language reviews unless asked for all of them, and sends anyone past its tenth page to a login screen, so LRQA's newest 200 of 323 were read.
